Village of Brewster, New York
The Village of Brewster is within the Town of Southeast in Putnam County. The population of Brewster as of the 2000 U.S. Census was 2,162. Brewster is the most densely populated village in the Town of Southeast. The village is named after two early settlers, Walter and James Brewster.
The village is 1.5 square miles and was incorporated in 1894. Route 22 passes through Brewster, and the village is adjacent to I-84 and I-684. The Town of Southeast Court, which covers the Village of Brewster, has two judges, Richard W. Vercollone and Gregory Folchetti. The Court is located at 1360 Route 22, Brewster, New York and handles small claims, traffic, town code, and criminal matters. The Putnam County District Attorney’s Office assigns John J. Hogan, Esq. as the ADA who generally appears for criminal matters in the Southeast Court.
