The village of Croton-On-Hudson has a population of approximately 7,600 based upon the most recent census in 2000. The village was incorporated in 1898 and has numerous beautiful parks and public lands including Croton Point Park, Van Cortlandt Manor (which has been designated a historic landmark), and the Teatown Reservation, where the children can learn about many animals and have birthday parties as well.
Croton hosts the annual Clearwater Great Hudson River Revival, popularized by the legendary folk singer and activist Pete Seeger, and Summerfest in the central business district, with folk music, art and food of all types for young and old alike. The village has been the home of the painter Alexander Calder, authors Joseph Heller and Roger Kahn, and poet Edna St. Vincent Millay.
